Wellness Therapy

Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, brings the gentle power of targeted light—originally explored by NASA for wound healing in space—to support relaxation, skin health, and cellular recovery. First discovered in the 1960s, this non-invasive therapy has since been documented in over 10,000 scientific studies for its profound restorative properties. At Just Breathe Salt + Sauna, we offer dedicated, private sessions where full-body LED panels bathe your skin in a soothing, warm red glow, helping you unwind and recharge without any heat, discomfort, or harmful UV exposure. At the cellular level, red light therapy works by delivering visible red (620–700 nm) and invisible near-infrared (800–1400 nm) light waves deep into your tissues. These non-thermal light photons are absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase, a vital enzyme inside the mitochondria of your cells. This absorption helps remove inhibitory nitric oxide, allowing oxygen to properly bind and accelerate the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP)—the primary energy currency that your cells use for biological repair, recovery, and overall vitality. This cellular energy boost triggers a healthy cascade of secondary benefits, reducing localized inflammation, improving microcirculation to deliver oxygen and nutrients, and stimulating fibroblasts to produce structural proteins like collagen and elastin. To maximize these benefits, we recommend direct skin contact in our private red light therapy room, as standard clothing fabrics can reflect or block the light. Red light therapy acts as an excellent, non-invasive addition to your wellness routine and can be beautifully paired with our salt therapy or infrared sauna sessions to support holistic recovery and overall longevity.

  • Speeds up muscle repair, reduces baseline markers of muscle damage, and decreases post-exercise soreness.
  • Enhances microcirculation, sending oxygen-rich blood and key nutrients directly to fatigued tissues.
  • Modulates pain pathways and eases morning stiffness associated with joint wear and chronic discomfort.

Cellular Energy & Overall Wellness

  • Boosts mitochondrial ATP synthesis to normalize cellular metabolism and support natural cell repair.
  • Balances immune defenses and downregulates systemic pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Preparation & Best Practices

01.

Drink at least 8 oz of water prior to the session.

02.

Expose as much skin as possible (bare skin contact is required, as fabrics block/reflect the therapeutic light wavelengths).

03.

Do not apply lotions, cosmetics, or oils to the skin before your session.

04.

Maintain a distance of 6–12 inches from the LED panel.

05.

Always wear the provided protective goggles to safeguard eyes.

06.

Rehydrate with 24 oz of water or electrolytes post-treatment.

Safety Guidelines & Contraindications

Red light therapy is exceptionally safe and non-thermal, but we recommend consulting a physician before use if you have cancer, photosensitive conditions or medications (e.g., epilepsy), active infections, open wounds, or are pregnant.
